Skyrock Farm & Carousel
Carousels, Home-Cooking, Horses & A Train Ride – A One-of-a-Kind Experience
Thursday May 16, 2019
What is Skyrock Farm & Carousel? It’s located in the beautiful countryside of Hamel and is considered the best-kept secret in Minnesota. Discover the magic of this hidden gem for yourself and you’ll be glad you did! Join Laura and Gary Block on Thursday, May 16th for this truly memorable day that is almost impossible to describe in this single page brochure. Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service motor coach will depart Little Falls from the northeast Wal-Mart parking lot at 8:00 a.m. We’ll also pick up in Royalton, Rice and St. Cloud or anywhere along our route. At first, Skyrock Farm & Carousel looks like any other farm on the winding country road. Horses grazing beside the barns and a yellow farmhouse are the picture of rural charm. Only a miniature train track offers a hint that this isn’t a typical homestead. But waiting inside the carousel building are horses of a different kind. Step inside and be transported to a Parisian street carnival from the 1900’s where ornate organs and carousels of every size create a grand visual and musical feast. These aren’t your grandmother’s church organs. These were created for fairs in Europe, hand carved and delicately painted motifs grace the facades. Their full, thunderous music belies their century-old age. The ballroom’s four floor-to-ceiling organs surround visitors on all sides. See the restoration process and how the pipes, bells and drums play. Hear the beautiful melody of the woodwinds and see the process used to create the music. See the antique carousel and learn about the artisans who carved life into the carousel’s animals. Owner Bill Nunn is passionate about the music, the era and these giant pieces that were invented to play music without a musician for the first time in history. The tour ends in the ballroom where a hearty home-cooked meal, made from scratch, is waiting for us. Chicken breast with parmesian cream sauce, glazed carrots, potatoes, fresh salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverages served buffet style is our lunch today. If you prefer live horses to musical ones, Bill and his wife Stacy are happy to show a horse jumping demonstration after lunch in their indoor arena. Sit back and experience the excitement of the horses up close and personal. Take some time to tour the rest of the barn if you would like or view the flower gardens. Remember that miniature train mentioned earlier? It’s time to bring out your inner child and board the mid-century train for a journey around the farm. This is a day to laugh and have fun. Take it from Laura and Gary who have spent time at Skyrock Farm, this is a magical experience like something you have never experienced in your life! What a day!! We’ll be returning to Little Falls around 5:00 p.m. Call today and make your reservations. You won’t want to miss this one!
