Chanhassen Dinner Theatre
First time on Chanhassen’s Main Stage
Wednesday, March 14, 2018
Join Laura and Gary Block on Wednesday, March 14th, for lunch and show at the Chanhassen where we have fabulous table seating in the second, third and fourth rows in the center section of the main theater for “Newsies”, the exciting musical that took Broadway by storm and making its debut on Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ Main Stage. In fact, there’s no doubt we have the best reserved tables in the theater that day. Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service motor coach will depart Little Falls at 9:00 from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. We’ll also pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud or anywhere else on our route. A tuxedoed greeter will meet us when we arrive at the theatre. Lunch at the Chanhassen means friendly tableside service and a wide choice of entrees such as the famous Chicken Chanhassen, Mediterranean chicken salad, vegetable lasagna, chicken tenders, Tilapia or the half-pound grilled cheeseburger, served with freshly baked rolls and beverage. (Entree items are subject to change…and normally do! So don’t make up your mind until you see the menu that day.) Following our delicious lunch there’s time to take a break, visit the gift shop or explore the theater. Then sit back in some of the best seats in the theater for Disney’s “Newsies”. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is thrilled to bring its audiences this exciting musical. With astounding choreography, unforgettable songs and inspirational storytelling, “Newsies” is a not-to-be-missed, high energy show for all ages. Inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City, Jack Kelly hawks the headlines day-in and day-out with countless other newsboys trying to save enough to make his dreams a reality. New York World publisher, Joseph Pulitzer, realizes he can maximize profits by raising the price of the “papes” and does so without a word to the “Newsies”. Upon seeing Pulitzer’s greed, the newsboys protest and declare a strike against the publishing giants. Realizing it will take more than his friends to make a difference, Jack rallies all of the “Newsies” in New York City. Through courage, determination, and friendship the “Newsies” are ready to seize the day and take a stand. Coupled with dazzling choregraphy, the unforgettable songs are from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beaast, AladdinP, Pocahontas), and include: “Carry the Banner”, “King of New York”, “Santa Fe” and “Seize the Day”. Don’t miss this ultimate crowd pleaser, a Minnesota Regional Premiere, nominated for 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical! We’ll be returning to Little Falls around 5:45. Sign up today!!
