Ives Auditorium – Bloomington
Lunch & Show
February 14, 2018
Hear the songs that brought the legendary ladies of country music into the heart of America! Join Laura and Gary Block on February 14th for a delicious lunch and great show. We originally sold out this trip at Plymouth Playhouse last summer, but the show was removed from their schedule. “Heartsongs” is coming back with the original performers, this time at the beautiful Ives Auditorium in Bloomington which is located on the lush 80 acre campus of the Minnesota Masonic Home, the elegant 47,000 square foot Heritage Center that features a 443 seat auditorium with jewel box theater and comfortable seats. This is an elegant day trip destination. What better day to experience “Heartsongs”? Valentine’s Day!!! We leave Little Falls at 9:00 a.m. from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service motor coach will also pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud or anywhere else on our route. Lunch is served buffet style with an entrée choice of chicken breast or vegetarian lasagna. Please inform us of your entrée choice when you sign up!! . Following lunch, it’s time to be seated in the theater. This musical, crafted to make audiences’ hearts sing, features songs of love, heartbreak, family and faith. Legendary Ladies of Country is a joyous celebration of the power and resilience women discover within themselves as they travel down life’s highway of young love, marriage, heartbreak (and revenge!), plus motherhood. As they come to the far end of that journey, they find they have accumulated a wellspring of wisdom to pass along to their daughters, as the unbroken circle begins again. The show pays tribute to current and legendary country greats such as The Carter Family(June, Carlene and Mother Maybelle), Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Kitty Wells, Lynn Anderson, Reba McEntire, Bobbie Gentry, The Judds, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Tammy Wynette, Patty Loveless, Carrie Underwood and Loretta Lynn. Created by local singer/actor/composer/director Dennis Curley, writer/lyricist Jim Robinson and Troupe America founder Curt Wollan, Heartsongs features Church Basement Ladies alum Dorian Chalmers and newcomer Debra Berger backed by a mostly female band, The Honky-Tonk Angels. Fiddle, guitar, banjo and bass will accompany hit songs such as “Walkin’ After Midnight”, “Sweet Dreams”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, “Harper Valley PTA”, “Coat of Many Colors”, “I Never Promised You a Rose Garden”, “Could I have This Dance” and more. Comments from folks who have seen the show include, “glorious harmonies”, “loved seeing so many women on stage” and “we left the show on such a high”. If you like the life stories that country music tells, this show is ideal for you. Combine a fabulous buffet lunch, great seats for “Heartsongs”, a gorgeous theater and you have the perfect setting for a perfect day! Plus it’s Laura’s birthday also and who knows what surprises may happen!! We will be returning to Little Falls around 6:00 p.m.
