Fox and the Rabbit

Mystic Lake, Old Log, Jewel Theatre & More

April 3 & 4, 2012

An Interesting name for an extremely interesting trip that features plenty of fun, comedy at the Old Log, entertainment at the Jewel Theatre, an Easter home tour, all meals included, the 50+ Primetime Expo and an overnight stay at Mystic Lake.   Join Laura and Gary Block April 3 & 4 for two fantastic days in Stillwater, St. Paul, Prior Lake and near the shores of Lake Minnetonka.  We’ll depart Little Falls at 11:30 from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot.  Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service tour coach will also pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud or anywhere else along our route.  The getaway begins in historic Stillwater at the 21 room English Tudor residence of Lois and Richard Kohns, a home with nearly 3,000 Easter rabbits on display through their house, plus other dolls, paperweights, spoons and more.  This is the last chance to visit the Kohn home and view the Easter decorations.  After 30 years of decorating, the Kohns plan to retire and close their home to the public.  Walk through their home and experience Easter in a whole new way.  Hot apple cider, coffee and Easter bunny sugar cookies will be also served by the family.  Following our Easter house tour in Stillwater, we’ll travel west to downtown St. Paul and Twin Cities Magic, the home of the Jewel Theatre in a fabulous 1880’s three story Victorian building that has been restored completely.   The Jewel is a whimsical little “gem” of a playhouse.  This 144 seat theater is the only magic-specific theater in the Twin Cities.  Are you ready for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas?  An afternoon of magical entertainment with the Keith West Magic & Illusion Show is just that.  For the last two decades, Keith West has been providing the finest in entertainment from the Rio Casino in Las Vegas and all across the United States.  This show combines the best of magic and mind-boggling illusions with the wit and comedy of Keith West.  Dinner this evening at the Jewel Theatre is catered by Buca di Beppo of St. Paul with delicious authentic Italian cuisine consisting of Italian bread, Caesar salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, Penne Basilica, green beans and beverage.  Comfort and luxury are what we’ll experience this evening.  Overnight accommodations are at Mystic Lake where their hotel offers spacious rooms and is just steps from the Midwest’s largest casino.  The Mystic Lake staff will deliver your luggage to your room.  Experience the ultimate getaway and enjoy a relaxing evening or take part in some gaming. Twenty dollars in Mysticash – that’s twenty dollars in free slot play – is also included.

Our second day begins with a hot breakfast at Minnehaha Café, one of seven restaurants at Mystic Lake.  The morning is on our own and we’ve also included admission to the “50+ Primetime Living Expo” at Mystic Lake Convention Center. Take advantage of the exhibitor’s booths, entertainment, experts, giveaways, free health screenings, free drawings and more.  It’s your chance to renew and re-energize.  It’ll be a fun and informative morning.  Lunch today is at Mystic Lake’s award winning buffet – an international culinary adventure.  Dozens of entrees and even more complimentary items, featuring tastes from around the globe, will guarantee a little bit of everything at our meal.  This afternoon we board our coach and travel to the Old Log Theater where we have reservations for the comedy “The Fox on the Fairway”.  This matinee production has been described by critics as “a grand slam, joyously ridiculous and phenomenally funny”.  It’s a hilarious romp that begins as Quail Valley Country Club prepares to take on archrival Crouching Squirrel in the Annual Inter-Club Golf Tournament.  With a sizable wager at stake, the contest plays out amidst three love affairs, a disappearing diamond, objectionable sweaters and an exploding vase.  A charming madcap adventure about love and life that we can all relate to!  One last stop will be Culvers in Maple Grove where we’ll enjoy the “Flavor of the Day” dessert delivered on board our coach.  This will be a super way to top off two great days with all the ingredients for a perfect experience.  The expected return to Little Falls is around 6:30.  Sign up today and leave the winter season behind.   Two days of fun for just $179…what an unbelievable price…and all meals are included!!
