Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol
Ordway Concert Hall – St. Paul
Sunday November 18, 2018
Join Laura and Gary Block on Sunday, November 18th for the world premiere of this new holiday musical “Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol” at the new Ordway Concert Hall in downtown St. Paul. Our Andy’s Charter Service motor coach departs Little Falls at 10:00 a.m. from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. We’ll also pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud East Shopko northeast parking lot or any other city on our route, as we travel to the Twin Cities. Lunch is on your own when we stop at Culver’s in Maple Grove. Following lunch, it’s on to St. Paul for the 2 o’clock matinee. There are three performances of this show this week-end and tickets are impossible to find. The three-year-old Ordway Concert Hall is a world-class state-of-the-art performance venue that was designed specifically for acoustic and electro-acoustic music in a beautifully intimate setting. There is a direct connection between the audience and the artists with no seat more than 90 feet from the stage. “Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol” is a spin on the Charles Dickens holiday classic. The musical features an original score by Dolly Parton. Set in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, mining company boss Ebenezer Scrooge meets the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, rekindling a spark of humanity in his hardened heart. A live acoustic band brings Parton’s original score to life in this “concert style” presentation of a heartwarming, musical reimagining of a holiday classic. Our reserved seats are in the first, second and third rows of the second tier. Keep in mind this is a very intimate theater and the elevator goes directly to the second tier. From there, walk out to our front row seats. No stairs to walk and when the elevator doors open, it’s only two to four steps to get to rows 2-3, which is very unlike the downtown Minneapolis theaters! Built in 2015, this theater was designed with the theater patron in mind and is unlike any other theater in the Twin Cities. Once again, tickets to this show are almost impossible to find, but we were able to purchase 50 of them at the beginning of the year. What an enjoyable experience this will be. Dolly Parton is not in this show, but the production is written and sponsored by her. We will be returning to Little Falls around 6:30. Take advantage of this opportunity to experience the world premiere of “Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol” at a great price. Sign up today!!!! There will only be 50 seats available. When they’re sold, that’s it, since it’s impossible to obtain any more seats for this show.
