Branson Up North

Branson show, lunch, carousel & more in North Dakota

April 24, 2012

It’s a little bit of Branson music and comedy entertainment, a 1920’s carousel, private catered lunch at the zoo, and it’s going to be a whole lot of fun!  Join Laura and Gary Block on Tuesday, April 24th as we travel to North Dakota for a full day of excitement.  Many people enjoy our one-day outings and this will be a truly enjoyable day with the best in entertainment and delicious food.  Our comfortable Andy’s Charter Service tour coach will depart Little Falls from the northeast Wal-Mart parking lot at 7:15 a.m. with muffins and juice served for breakfast.   We’ll also pick up in Randall, Motley or anywhere else along our route.  Our first destination is Fargo and the Red River Zoo.  Normally closed on weekdays in April, the zoo has agreed to open just for our group.  The zoo is home to over 300 animals from 75 different species, including some of the few red pandas in the world.  Lunch will be in the building that houses a fully restored and working 1928 carousel.  Go ahead and hop on the carousel and re-visit your childhood days.  Our meal, catered by The Oven Door, is freshly grilled chicken breast, baby red potatoes, garden salad, dinner rolls, beverages and carrot cake.   After lunch, we’ll visit the most recent addition to the zoo, the timber wolf exhibit featuring a family of five wolves donated to the zoo at birth.  It will be their lunch time also and their feeding can be viewed from inside a “trapper’s cabin” that has two large viewing windows to observe the wolf family.  A zoo specialist will join us to explain the exhibit.  By the way, there isn’t any out-of-the-ordinary walking that is necessary for this private visit to the Red River Zoo.   It’s back on the coach as we head downtown to the beautifully restored Fargo Theatre where The Homestead Pickers from Branson, Missouri will entertain us this afternoon.  The Homestead Pickers appear daily at Silver Dollar City.  Dressed in period costumes, the guys play instruments, crack jokes, sing and tell stories of both truth and myth about the Ozark way of life.  After all, The Homestead Pickers are the highest rated attraction at Silver Dollar City.  When you combine their talents,  you find out why these guys are Grammy nominees, former band members with Miss Loretta Lynn, Paul Harris’ new show in Branson, to name of few.  Whatever it takes to excite their audiences, these ole boys will do it.  Music from bluegrass to Irish, Americana, mountain, Gospel, country and beyond is performed.  When the curtain closes following their show two hours later, everybody will nod and agree that a lot of fun was just had!  What a day!!  We’ll be returning to Little Falls around 8:00 p.m., after a stop at a fast food restaurant for dinner on your own.  Call today and make your reservations.
