Experience the magic of an Ozark Mountain Christmas with Laura and Gary Block November 18-23, 2019. All of Branson sparkles for the holidays, from fabulous Christmas shows and dazzling lights, to spectacular and breathtaking scenic beauty. Branson can be a special gift to you or to someone else at this festive time of year. Six days, five nights and lots of entertainment in Branson. This year we’ve included lots of meals with two lunches, five dinners, five breakfasts and more surprises that help make up an unbelievable week of fun and entertainment. In fact, all of the meals in Branson are included this year. Compare our trip with other companies and you’ll find we offer more…more days, more entertainment and more meals…and a more reasonable price. We’re up front where you’ll be seated in the theaters and which hotels you’ll be staying at. Not all tour companies do that, but we do!!
Day One - Monday
Our Andy’s Charter Service motor coach departs from Little Falls early in the morning. We’ll pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud, the Twin Cities or any other location on our route. Our destination is Drury Inn, Kansas City-Independence, Missouri for our overnight stay. The 5:30 Kickback with a rotating menu of hot food and cold beverages will be waiting for us when we arrive. Long distance calls are also free tonight, so phone a friend or loved one and say “hello” at no cost! Plus there’s free sodas and popcorn in the lobby.
Day Two - Tuesday
The day begins with a hot breakfast buffet. “Hot” means sausage and eggs, not bread and a toaster! Choose from scrambled eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, biscuits, gravy and more. This morning we travel to Bonner Springs, Kansas and a tour of the Moon Marble Company. Moon Marble is an unusual store filled with toys and games that span several decades. Visitors enjoy perusing the aisles and almost everyone finds something that brings back memories from their childhood. Our group will be given a demonstration on how the handmade art marbles are created. This is a torch working process using rods of colored glass from Italy. The artist will explain the process as he works and answer any questions about marbles, glass working and the history of the store while we’re seated and watching. Everyone gets to select a set of toy marbles to take home with them. We visited Moon marble Company four years ago and we’re delighted to return for this remarkable experience. Lunch will be on our own enroute to Branson. Our visit to Branson begins at the Main Street Marina near the downtown area where we’ll board the “Landing Princess” a 100 foot yacht, complete with bar, luxury dining experience and glass enclosed decks perfect for viewing passing scenery. Speaking of passing scenery, the shores of somewhat, river-like Lake Taneycomo boasts areas heavy with trees and the colorful bluffs of the Ozark Hills. All this while enjoying a three course plated dinner that begins with a fresh salad, the main entrée of pork tenderloin and pan seared chicken breast, garlic mashed potatoes, country-style green beans, dinner roll, dessert and beverage. One of the highlights of this hour and a half dinner cruise is experiencing the spectacular performances of the Branson Landing Fountains, a $7.5 million synchronized water, fire, sound and light show. We’ll check into Branson’s Best for the next three evenings This is the first time we have stayed at this property. Branson’s Best is centrally located, locally owned with exterior corridors and known for its friendliness and cleanliness. It is rated #6 of 133 hotels in Branson by TripAdvisor. To top off our evening, there are nightly desserts of hot cobbler, ice cream and fresh-baked cookies served in the dining area for us to enjoy. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, so an evening of relaxation will be appreciated.
Day Three - Wednesday
We’ll start off the day with the hot breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereals and more. Our second day in Branson begins with a stop at Yakov’s Theatre to experience Yakov Smirnoff who is back in Branson for 37 dates in 2019. The famous Russian comedian says “Make America Laugh Again!” with plenty of “Only in America” and “What A Country” patriotism, that includes Christmas cheer, New Year’s fun, and lots of laughs. Our reserved seats begin in the sixth row in the center section. Lunch is included today at the world’s largest Cici’s Pizza, featuring 11 styles of pizza, plus the salad, soup and pasta bar that is always simply amazing. Our afternoon show will be at one of the largest theaters in Branson, where the Welk Resort Theatre is presenting “Christmas with Daniel O’Donnell”. This show will feature Daniel singing many Christmas and countless other festive songs from across the decades. He will also be joined on stage by local choirs. We ordered our tickets almost a year and a half ago and the demand has been huge since his shows are limited to only 17 afternoon shows. We feel lucky to even obtain seats for this show and our seating assignments are made 60 days before the show. We typically move forward as other groups release their seats. Dinner this evening is included at McFarlain’s Family Restaurant, inside the IMAX complex, where Branson’s largest indoor special effects Christmas tree soars 20 feet into the air.. You’ll have a choice of four entrees served with salad, cornbread, pie and beverage. McFarlains has recipes as legendary as the Ozarks with a full service menu (no buffets) – plus some of Branson’s best hospitality. There’ll be time after to do some shopping in the complex if you so desire. Tonight, it’s a “Sanders Family Christmas”, an off-Broadway hit musical at the Little Opry Theatre. Meet a talented enthusiastic family…quirky, flawed and hilariously imperfect. Become the congregation and enjoy 30 classic gospel tunes. The Sanders Family celebrate the holidays in a theatrical performance filled with faith, family and old-fashioned fun. Our seats are in the first five rows of the center section. Everyone loves this heart-warming Christmas show. This will be a day exceeding your entertainment expectations.
Day Four - Thursday
We’ll start our final full day in Branson with the breakfast at Branson’s Best. What a day of entertainment this is going to be. We begin in the morning with Down Home Country at Grand Country Music Hall. The Down Home Country Show is the best show in Branson to hear traditional country music. With an incredible cast of singers and pickers, you literally step back in time to the classics, bringing to life the country music you will never forget. You’ll love the variety of dynamic singing, side-splitting comedy, powerful gospel, barn-burning bluegrass and down home fun. This show alone will make sure that your trip to the Ozark Mountains is a memorable one. Out seats begin in the 10th row, center section. Following the show, it’s an included lunch at the Grand Country Buffet where we’ll enjoy an experience reminiscent of a meal at Grandma’s house. Are you ready for “A Janice Martin Cirque Show”? The show is back to high-flying fun for the 2019 season and now at the Americana Theatre. Our reserved seats begin in row E for the world’s only aerial acrobatic (and Julliard trained) violinist who takes us on an enchanting magical, musical, and aerial journey joined by her Cirque family of singers, aerialists, magicians, jugglers and more. Country to Rock, Broadway to Pop and even a little Classical, this is the only Cirque show in the world where every headline performer has an extraordinary musical talent matched with a breath-taking circus skill. You will be inspired, fall in love, have good old-fashioned fun and be awed by this incredible production. Winning “Best Matinee of the Year”, “Best New Show of the Year”. “Female Entertainer of the Year” and “Best Military Tribute of the Year” awards, the new 2019 “A Janice Martin Cirque Show” will amaze you with more magical illusions and special effects. There’s more fun, entertainment and shopping at our next stop which is at the Branson Craft Mall and Pickin’ Porch Grill. This is the craft mall that has it all! Thousands of handmade items, the work of creative and imaginative artisans are on display. These artists hail from all over America, but you’ll also see many items that are staples of the Ozark Mountain region in this 16,000 square foot facility. Also at the same location is the Hillbilly Nut & Fruit Company, offering a large variety of fruits and nuts as well as jams, jellies, salsas, soup mixes and local honey. Don’t forget to visit the Branson Coffee Company and the Branson Fudge Company where they have free samples of the candy. Dinner tonight is in the same building, The Pickin’ Porch Grill, where’s there is live music. Enjoy one of the entrees, including pulled pork, catfish, chicken tenders, grilled chicken, crispy or grilled chicken salad. Our final show is the Hughes Brothers Christmas Show, the ultimate Christmas experience where we have reserved seats in the center section beginning in Row 9. The Hughes Brothers and family transport you to a Christmas wonderland filled with the season’s best vocal harmonies, inspiring instrumentals and light-hearted humor. Along with all the festive surprises and treasured family traditions, see Santa in a new light when he explains the symbols of Christmas in the most moving presentation you’ve ever witnessed. It’s been a busy day and a relaxing night at Branson’s Best is something we’ll look forward to.
Day Five – Friday
Breakfast is at the hotel this morning and then it is back on the road as we head north through Missouri and into Iowa. We’ll stop for lunch on our own, sample cheeses at the Osceola Cheese House and have some fun on the coach. Our home tonight is the Drury Inn in West Des Moines. Take a break with the 5:30 Kickback of food & beverages, plus free long distance calls once again. After a day of traveling, this unique Drury Inn will provide a comfortable place to relax and unwind. This is one of our favorite hotels to relax at and tonight we’ll get the group together for a fun evening.
Day Six - Saturday
The hot breakfast buffet at the Drury Inn is ours to enjoy again as we prepare for our last day together. Choose where you’d like to have lunch on your own today, Cabelas or Famous Daves BBQ in Owatonna. Before we leave town, we’ll stop at the Russell Stover Candies store featuring a full selection of boxed candies and chocolates. This is an outstanding Ozark Mountain Christmas trip. A great time is almost a guarantee and you’ll have pleasant memories for many years in the future.
