Branson 2018

Ozark Mountain Christmas

November 12-17

Experience the magic of an Ozark Mountain Christmas with Laura and Gary Block November 12-17, 2018.  All of Branson sparkles for the holidays, from fabulous Christmas shows and dazzling lights, to spectacular and breathtaking scenic beauty.  Branson can be a special gift to you or to someone else at this festive time of year.  Six days, five nights and seven shows in Branson. This year we’ve included lots of meals with two lunches, five dinners, five breakfasts and more surprises that help make up an unbelievable week of fun and entertainment. In fact, all of the meals, except one, in Branson are included this year. Compare our trip with other companies and you’ll find we offer more…more days, more shows and more meals…and a more reasonable price. We’re up front where you’ll be seated in the theaters and which hotels you’ll be staying at.  Not all tour companies do that, but we do!!

Day One - Monday

Our Andy’s Charter Service motor coach departs from Little Falls early in the morning.  We’ll pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud, the Twin Cities or any other location on our route.  Our destination is Drury Inn, Kansas City-Independence, Missouri for our overnight stay. The 5:30 Kickback with a rotating menu of hot food and cold beverages will be waiting for us when we arrive.  Long distance calls are also free tonight, so phone a friend or loved one and say “hello” at no cost!  Plus there’s free sodas and popcorn in the lobby.

Day Two - Tuesday

The day begins with a hot breakfast buffet.  “Hot” means sausage and eggs, not bread and a toaster!  Choose from scrambled eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, biscuits, gravy and more. This morning we travel to Branson. Lunch will be on our own in downtown Branson where you’ll have a chance to explore the original city. Our first show will be The Urban Cowboy Reunion with Mickey Gilley & Johnny Lee.  The reserved seats begin in the 4th row.  Mickey & Johnny will give us an afternoon to remember performing some of their chart topping songs complete with memories of the hit movie “Urban Cowboy”.  Mickey Gilley has scored more than 15 chart toppers including “Stand by Me” and “Room Full of Roses”.  Johnny Lee gave us five #1 hits including “LookinFor Love (In All the Wrong Places)” and played himself in the movie that skyrocketed his and Gilley’s careers. We’ll check into our hotel for the next three evenings, the Yellow Rose Inn & Suites.  We stayed at this award winning property located on scenic and quiet Falls Parkway the past few years and loved everything about this place. This is a 100% non-smoking inn with clean, quiet, comfortable rooms with a refrigerator, microwave and 40 inch HDTV in each room. Dinner tonight is included at Montana Mike’s Steakhouse where we’ll have a choice of four entrees served with salad, roll, dessert and beverage.  Within a rustic mountain lodge atmosphere, Montana Mikes offers full service casual dining and specializes in satisfying big appetites. Let’s get into the holiday mood tonight.  The Trail of Lights is an amazing drive-thru animated display that will carry you into the very heart of Christmas. Enjoy the two mile tram ride that winds through the historic 160 acre Shepherd of the Hills Homestead into a holiday wonderland.  The Travel Channel calls it “one of the most dazzling Christmas spots in America”.  The Trail of Lights includes millions of multi-colored lights and hundreds of gorgeous animated displays.  As our journey ends, you have the option of going to the top of Inspiration Tower as a grand finale.  Glass elevators take you 230 feet up for a Santa’s view of the lights from above.  Top it off with a cup of hot chocolate before we head back to the hotel after a busy first day.

Day Three - Wednesday

We’ll start off the day with the hot breakfast buffet at the Bon Appetit Bistro breakfast room at the hotel that includes scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, fresh cooked waffles, fruit salad, cereals, yogurt, donuts, bagels, muffins, juice, milk, coffee and more.  Our second day in Branson begins with a stop at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theatre to experience Branson’s premiere Christmas production, The Bretts Christmas Show with singers, dancers, comedy and more.  This is sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Our reserved seats begin in the ninth row in the center section.  Lunch is included today at Florentina’s Ristorante Italiano where you’ll have a choice of four entrees served with dessert and beverage. It’s old world Italy at Florentina’s where you’ll enjoy mouth-watering Italian cuisine painstakingly crafted by very talented chefs.  The homemade sauces and signature creations are made fresh daily in an atmosphere of “casual sophistication-Italian style”. Our afternoon show will be at one of the largest theaters in Branson, the Welk Resort Theatre where Daniel O’Donnell is performing his first Christmas show in the United States. There is an even greater anticipation among American audiences who are eager to see this new, full Christmas stage production.  This show will feature Daniel singing many Christmas and countless other festive songs from across the decades.  He will also be joined on stage by local choirs. We ordered our tickets almost a year and a half ago and the demand has been huge since his shows are limited to only a few weeks. We feel lucky to even obtain seats for this show and  our seats begin in the 27th row on  the right side. We typically move forward as other groups release their seats. Dinner this evening is included at the world’s largest Cici’s Pizza, featuring 11 styles of pizza, plus the salad, soup and pasta bar that is always simply amazing.. Tonight it’s Clay Cooper’s Country Christmas where we have reserved seats on the right side, rows 4 thru 8.  Clay and his cast bring the warmth of Christmas to the stage!  Beautiful dancing, crazy comedy and the magical sounds of Christmas will bring wonderful memories. Be ready to laugh a lot and walk out feeling warm and fuzzy all over. This will be a day exceeding your entertainment expectations.

Day Four - Thursday

We’ll start our final full day in Branson with the breakfast buffet at the Yellow Rose Inn.  What a day of entertainment this is going to be. We begin in the morning with The Blackwoods, a part of country music and gospel history.  The Blackwoods are known throughout music circles for their pure family harmonies, excellent musicianship and first class entertainment. With an 80 year track record of hits, The Blackwoods bring hand-clapping, high energy entertainment to the stage.  The show is a stroll down memory lane with a rousing veteran’s tribute that is always part of the show.  This show is American family, loyalty and excellence all rolled into two hours that will leave you spellbound.  We have excellent reserved seats in the center section beginning in Row 3.  An included lunch is at McFarlain’s Family Restaurant today, inside the IMAX complex, where Branson’s largest indoor special effects Christmas tree soars 20 feet into the air..  You’ll have a choice of four entrees served with salad, cornbread, pie and beverage.  McFarlains has recipes as legendary as the Ozarks with a full service menu (no buffets) – plus some of Branson’s best hospitality and a few surprises that will keep the group entertained. There’ll be time after to do some shopping in the complex if you so desire. . This afternoon we have reserved seats beginning in row 7 for Pierce Arrow.  The Pierce Arrow show is a homegrown production that feels like it was created straight out of Las Vegas.  After you see this show, it will be hard to imagine laughing any harder or hearing a broader variety of music sung any better than at The Pierce Arrow Theater.  Find out which performer has been in the Guinness Book of World Records for 18 years and which male vocalist has been nominated for entertainer of the year. Dinner this evening is included at Branson’s best buffet, the Grand Country Buffet.   Tonight it’s the Grand Jubilee at the Grand Country Music Hall.  Audiences fall in love with the tight harmonies and dynamic performance of Branson’s best quartet, New South!  This incredible group entertains with spectacular music, great harmonies, family comedy and Ozark hospitality.  Mark, Luke, David and Jon sing all of your favorites and holiday songs.  The Grand Jubilee surpasses expectations of any age.  Comedy is abundant that will keep you doubled over in laughter.  Along with the power vocals of Jackie Brown, you’ll enjoy Branson’s #1 band, The Rhinestone Mafia, which is the backbone of the show.  Our reserved seats begin in the 16th row of the center section. It’s been a busy day and a relaxing night at the Yellow Rose Inn is something we’ll look forward to.

Day Five – Friday

Breakfast is at the hotel this morning and then it is back on the road as we head north through Missouri and into Iowa.  We’ll stop for lunch on our own, sample cheeses at the Osceola Cheese House and have some fun on the coach.  Our home tonight is the Drury Inn in West Des Moines. Take a break with the 5:30 Kickback of food & beverages, plus free long distance calls once again.  After a day of traveling, this unique Drury Inn will provide a comfortable place to relax and unwind.  This is one of our favorite hotels to relax at and tonight we’ll get the group together for a fun evening.

Day Six - Saturday

The hot breakfast buffet at the Drury Inn is ours to enjoy again as we prepare for our last day together.  Choose where you’d like to have lunch on your own today, Cabelas or Famous Daves BBQ in Owatonna.  Before we leave town, we’ll stop at the Russell Stover Candies store featuring a full selection of boxed candies and chocolates. This is an outstanding Ozark Mountain Christmas trip. A great time is almost a guarantee and you’ll have pleasant memories for many years in the future.
