Beehive – The 60’s Musical
Old Log Theatre
August 1, 2018
Beehive- The 60’s Musical is coming to the Old Log Theatre! It is the ultimate musical celebration of the 1960’s featuring such timeless classics as “My Boyfriend’s Back”, “Be My Baby”, “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Me and Bobby McGee”. Join Laura and Gary Block on Wednesday, August 1st, when our Andy’s Charter Service coach departs Little Falls at 9:15 a.m. from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot. We’ll also pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud East Shopko northeast parking lot or any other city along the way. An afternoon of food & fun is waiting for us at the Old Log Theater which is set on 11 beautiful acres on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Our visit begins with a delicious luncheon and a choice of four entrees, including braised boneless beef short ribs with potatoes, vegetable and gravy, dill roasted Tilapia with potatoes and vegetables or seared pork chop, potatoes, vegetables and bacon port demi glaze. The fourth entrée choice is angel hair pasta with garden marinara. All meals include dinner rolls, dessert and coffee or tea. (Please let us know what your lunch choice is when you sign up) Following lunch we’ll sit back and enjoy “Beehive”. “Beehive” nostalgically recalls the days of miniskirts, transistor radios and flower power. Told from the perspective of six young women who come of age in this enigmatic decade, these young ladies look back at a host of issues ranging from their first Beehive Dance to the challenges we faced as a nation – all accomplished by a vast array of the most celebrated and memorable songs of the era. “Beehive” includes 40 beloved hits that take you on a journey through the look, sound and feel of the decade. Through song, the women of “Beehive” document the dramatic changes that America underwent during the 1960’s. From the earliest part of the decade, when fun and innocent tunes were popular, to the mid-60’s when unrest was in the air, and finally to the era of women discovering their own empowerment. No longer were women relegated to the back of the studios as background singers, they shed their Beehive looks, took the microphone and sang songs from their hearts and souls and their music resounded around the world. We’re looking forward to a fun day at the Old Log Theatre and returning to Little Falls around 6:15.
